Waste collection
The City of Leuven and EcoWerf collect different types of waste from the pavements.
AttentionIn some streets, we don’t collect household waste from outside your home. Instead, you bring it to the sorting street yourself.
When do we collect waste?
Which types of waste do we collect from the pavements?
- Household waste
- Vegetable, fruit and garden waste (GFT)
- Plastic, metal and drink containers (PMD)
- Paper
- Bulky refuse: only by appointment (against payment)
- Wood prunings: only by appointment (free of charge)
How to prepare waste for collection
Put the waste on the pavement in front of your house before 7 o'clock in the morning on the day of the collection (not the evening before).
- Household waste
You have to buy special waste bags for these types of waste.- Large brown bag: fill up to max. 15 kg
- Small brown bag: fill up to max. 7.5 kg
- GFT (vegetable, fruit and garden)
- In the city center: You have to buy special waste bags for these types of waste.
- In the submunicipalities: GFT is collected in a GFT container.
- PMD
You have to buy special waste bags for these types of waste. - Paper
Put your paper in a closed cardboard box or tie it together with a piece of cord made of natural material.
