PIN and PUK codes for eID, kids-ID or electronic residence permit
Have you not received the PIN and PUK code for your eID, kids ID or residence card or have they been lost? Request them again for free.
Is your card blocked after you entered your code incorrectly 3 times? Make an appointment in the city office, we unblock your codes.
Are the PIN and PUK codes still needed?
The online services offered by the authorities are protected. To gain access, you have to identify yourself to:
- Prove your identity
- Put electronic signature on documents
- Use online services from the government, such as Tax-on-web, Mijn Dossier and My Pension
There are 3 ways to login safely:
- With your eID
- The safest way to login.
- You need a PIN code.
With the eID Viewer you can change your PIN yourself. - You must install the latest version of the eID software.
- With the app 'Itsme'
- You sign up with a free app.
- You don't need a PIN code.
- You need a smartphone and access to online banking (bank card and bank's card reader).
- With a digital key with activation code
- You identify yourself with a mobile app, a text message or an email.
- You don't need a PIN code.
- You need an activation code.
I have lost my codes or I didn't received the codes
You can request new ones, free of charge.

Collect PIN and PUK codes
Once we have received the codes, we will invite you to collect them from the city office, by appointment. This may take 4 to 5 working days.
Make appointment
Can you not come to the city office yourself? Give your identity card and a power of attorney to someone else to pick up the codes for you.
Unblock PIN or PUK codes
If you enter an incorrect PIN code 3 times, your card will be blocked.
Go to the city office after making an appointment. We unblock your codes, free of charge.

Can you not come to the city office yourself? Give your identity card and a power of attorney to someone else to pick up the codes for you.
Change PIN code
Do you have the PIN code and is your card not blocked? Then you can change your PIN in one of the following ways:
- Online with the eID Viewer
- At the city office, without an appointment.
