Applying for residence card from the age of 12

Are you not a Belgian and do you want to apply for a new electronic residence card? Make an appointment at the city office.

If so, you can apply for a residence card for children younger than 12.

You can do so online or by phone. If you are not in Belgium, you can only make an appointment by phone.

What do you need to bring to the appointment?

For all applications

  • National passport or identity card
  • Invitation from the city office, if any
  • Money: you can pay using cash or a debit/credit card

You do not need to bring a passport photo. We will take one free of charge during your appointment.

For application first residence card

Depending on your nationality:

  • Nationality of an EU country, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland: annex 19 or annex 8ter
  • Other nationality: annex 15, annex 49, annex 26 (sometimes annex 25) or certificate of registration (formerly: orange card)

For renewal of residence card (extension of stay)

  • Residence card or the document you received to temporarily replace your card.

For application of new residence card after loss or theft

  • Regular procedure

  • Expedited procedure
    If you apply before 2 pm, delivery the following working day: € 130
