Biodegradable waste (GFT) container or sticker

Bulky refuse can be collected from your home (against payment). You can ask the municipal services to do this.

Do you live in the city centre? In that case you don’t need a GFT container or sticker. We collect the biodegradable waste in green compostable bags.

When

In January each time you need a new sticker for that year.
The container must have a valid sticker on it before 1 March.

Prices and quantity

Prices 2024

Green 40-litres container: 1 sticker of € 20
Green 120-litres container: 1 sticker of € 50
Grey 240-litres container: 2 stickers of € 50

Prices 2025

Green 40-litres container: 1 sticker of € 27
Green 120-litres container: 1 sticker of € 65
Grey 240-litres container: 2 stickers of € 65

Discount if you have recently moved

Have you recently moved to Leuven or moved from the center to a Leuven borough? If you buy a gft sticker after 31 March in the year of your move, you pay less:

1 April to 30 June
You pay 75% of the price.
1 July to 30 September
You pay 50% of the price.
1 October 1 to 31 December
You pay 25% of the price.

For sale

GFT sticker 2024

You can buy the sticker for 2024 until 31 December 2024 in the city office (no appointment needed).

GFT sticker 2025

From Thursday 2 January 2025, you can buy a new GFT sticker.
The locations will follow.

Pick up
You can come pick up the container by the city's Public Works/Sanitation.
Replace
Is your container broken or do you want a different size? Then you can replace the container for free at the city's Public Works/Sanitation.
