- Help from the fire brigade
Call the free emergency number 1722 or request fire brigade assistance online. - Help in case of fire or (life) danger
Call the free emergency number 112.
Damage on private property
- Contact your insurer to see if repairs are covered. Learn more about flood insurance.
- Contact a professional to carry out the repairs, such as a plumber or roofer.
- Report your damage to the Flemish Disaster Fund (in Dutch).
Damage on public property
- Urgent reports (danger to passers-by or traffic)

The city only distributes sandbags at the request of emergency services where there is actual flooding in homes.
We don't distribute sandbags as a precaution. You can buy them at a DIY store.
